My child has never played before, is there a place for them on this team?
Yes! We have many athletes with a wide variety of skills. We have programming to fit the competitive athlete who has played for years as well as programming for those just getting their feet wet!
Do you need any special equipment?
All you need is a swim suit and a towel. As the athletes get more competitive (provincial or national league) they will be required to purchase a suit specific for water polo. But in Learn to Play, you can wear which ever swimsuit you have. Most athletes do find it helpful to use goggles for their swim training but it is a personal choice and not required.
How much travel is involved?
Good question! That all depends on the level that the athlete is registered in. If they are Learn to Play or not provincial league, they won't ever go further than Edmonton. If they are playing provincial league, there will be games in Edmonton, Calgary and Okotoks. If the U14 provincial league team finishes in a high enough position, they may have the opportunity to play in the Western Canadian Championships. Westerns change location yearly and could be in Saskatchewan, Alberta or British Columbia. Check the calendar for upcoming events!
